Mentha spicata

A natural refrigerant, spearmint cools us down in summer and is a favourite in desserts and iced tea and water. Relieves itching skin, calms irritations and congestion. Relaxes the gut and uptight states. Include in chest rubs and breath blends. Repels insects. Uplifts a tired mind. Spearmint does not contain high amounts of menthol so is a more suitable option than peppermint for use during pregnancy and for young children.

Aroma: Top Note.

Perfume: Soft, sweet and minty aroma with warm, fruity/spicy undertones. It is similar, but sweeter and less sharp than peppermint

Blends well with:  basil, eucalyptus, grapefruit, lavender, rosemary, jasmine sandalwood and verbena.

Indications: anaesthetic (local) anti-septic, anti-spasmodic, astringent, carminative, digestive, cephalic, emmenagogue, insecticide, restorative and stimulant, refrigerant, decongestant, tonic.
