Pimenta officinalis
Widely known in cooking as allspice, the sweet, intensity of pimento translates into its essential oil. Include in a stimulating blend or add richness and pungency to a scent. Considered an antioxidant. Use to settle the gut and gas. Relaxes muscles - add to a massage blend for warmth and relief from aches. Numbs insect bites. Add to mulled wine and desserts. The oil can be extracted from the leaves or the fruit – Tinderbox pimento is from the fruit (berry).
Aroma: Top Note.
Perfume: Complex and warm with a sweet, spicy heart note.
Blends well with: Other spice oils such as ginger and cinnamon or cardamom, resinous oils such as myrrh or benzoin. Try with lavender, ylang ylang, geranium or patchouli.
Indications: anaesthetic, analgesic, antioxidant, antiseptic, carminative, muscle relaxant, rubefacient, stimulant and tonic.
